I personally feel that Cgy would be better off signing Reimer. Granted, all of the other goalies mentioned are far superior, the asking price for them is WAY too high.
Sign Reimer to a 3 yr / 3 mil per deal and sign Ortio to a 2 yr / minimum wage contract to leave him open to the expansion draft. |

If they are in fact talking, probably says a few things;
Dougie started showing his offensive chops in the second half, but overall, it was a pretty mediocre season. Downright poor in the first half. That huge potential is still there cause of all the tools he possesses, (size- offensive instincts) but alot of the same stuff occurred in Boston. I think he was certainly overhyped coming in.
With a ridiculous top 2 like Calgary has, it gives u the luxury to perhaps explore filling the other spots with lesser guys
Chiarelli is desperate and/or is running out of options.
I suppose it's possible he just really has a hard on for Dougie.
but considering that it may cost a little more cause flames, and the season Dougie had last year, I'd say it's the former.
Assuming there's an ounce of truth to the rumour of course... |

If the top 5 go the way most are predicting I think they go Juolevi. I hope they go with a skill guy like Nylander but I think that Juolevi fits more of the bigger body and fits the Mantra of building from the backend out.
EDIT:
I just checked and Juolevi is only 2 inches taller and 2 lbs heavier than Nylander. |

Reimer is not signing a 3 year contract in my opinion. I just don't see him and his agent agreeing that this would be a smart move turning 32 and asking for a new contract at the end. He will command term more than money in the open market. |

Would Toronto trade number 1 for oilers 4th and Cgy's 6th.

I puke in my mouth at thought of doing any kind of major deal to help the Oilers. But if we weren't division hated rivals, a deal could be there. Hamilton is a 40+point, 6'6" RHD D that is top pairing, exactly what the Oil doctor ordered. But it has to be an overpay. Sorry, but if Oil put the #4, Nurse & the #33 on the table, quite honestly, I would have to seriously consider that. Price of a top pairing RHD you Oil pondscums! |

They did give his brother a contract after all. Was that to get Dougie or just coincidence? Maybe the price of keeping Dougie happy is more than it appears? |

Yeah that's not happening
Chia wouldn't put Nurse in the deal to Boston so zero chance he does for the Lamezzzz! |

If they are thinking defence, I would rather pick Sergachyov over Juolevi.
Bigger, has a bit of a mean streak and can skate. Seems to be better in his own end, and a bomb of a shot for the power play.
Also perhaps a reason the Sergachyev was the OHL defenceman of the year and Juolevi wasn't.
As for trading Hamilton, I'm not sure what to think on that one Seem too early to give up on him and I want to say to not worry too much about the start of last season. It was an adjustment time. At the same time the thought of having 4th and 6th is really enticing. Can pick Tkachuk, or even try to more easily flip 4th to Columbus to pick Puljijarvi.
Would Hamilton for 4th be a straight up trade. should one side add to that? |

There is zero chance u get the 4th AND nurse.
I doubt you get nurse at all actually.
I read that's where chiarelli balked when Boston asked for him last year
His handedness is a huge bonus and he's quality offensively. Could very well be the piece we need. But he's got his warts no doubt.
We did the brossoit- smid deal not so long ago! :
That one looks decent for us atm, always down to test the waters again !! |

Does Montreal still really want Yakapov?
Trade Hamilton (still not sure I want to trade him) to the Oilers for 4th and Yakapov.
Trade Yakapov (and probably some adder) to Montreal for 9th.
Then the Flames have 4th, 6th and 9th. Tkachuk, Sergachyov, and maybe a Logan Brown. Or Juolevi may still be available then.
On even possible would they flip 9th for Bishop.
I hate trade speculation on a day like today. All these things that make sense to us Armchair types, and in the end nothing happens and the Flames will just pick at 6th.

If that's your only chance at a starters position he will. Maybe he'd rather go 1 year and see where that takes him? |

Highly doubtful. |

Trading Hamilton would be stupid. A big step back if you ask me. But, if they did, it'd be for a massive overpay, especially to EDM. They're not trading him just for a 4 th overall. And they'd better be damn sure they have someone else ready to jump in with top pairing potential.
Dumb idea. Hamilton is the replacement of the top pair in the next couple of years. |

This is stupid, Dougie will never be an oiler. Top 2-3 RHD for the next 10+ years. |
